Chairman Roman Motyczak is stepping down from his role as Chairman of the club.
A Personal Message from Roman.
Dear Supporters, Players & Staff past and present
After over ten incredible years serving as Chairman of Harpenden Town Football Club, the time has come for me to step down as chairman at the end of the 24-25 season and pass the reins to new leadership. It is the right time for both me and the club as we continue to grow and embrace new opportunities.
I will remain fully involved in the club to help the transition until the end of May 2025 and thereafter in an advisory role. As part of the transition David Russell and Michelle Chandler will become Vice Chairs of the club and join me as Directors of the club together we will establish a formal structure to the club over the next 6 months.
David Russell will replace me as chairman for the 2025-26 season and I wish him and Michelle every success, it has been one a great honour to serve this club and to be the driving force in getting it to where it is now. Together, we have had many achievements on and off the field, when I first became involved with the club there were many challenges and the very survival of the club was in doubt with the prospect of ceasing to exist after over 125 years being a real possibility.
Thanks to the generosity of many, the club is now prospering and looking towards a bright future. On the pitch there have been several memorable moments over my tenure from promotion to the Spartan Premier league and achieving our highest ever league position (twice) and a record-breaking run in the FA Vase together with memorable cup wins. Seeing the match attendances increase from the 10’s, to the 100’s, to 1,000 as our record for a competitive match attendance. The number of competitive teams we filed has increased from 1 to 7 with the introduction of Women’s team being one of my proudest moments. The bonds formed as a team, through both triumphs and challenges, have been truly special, working alongside such passionate and dedicated individuals has been a privilege.
Often volunteers contributions go unnoticed and underappreciated without the volunteers’ efforts, clubs will find it more difficult to make ends meet and to achieve all that they would like. I am proud to leave the club in an excellent position and hand over to a new team who can progress then club up the leagues as the premier competitive football club in Harpenden.
I will take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed and ask everyone to rally round and help the new committee. They will face challenges as community organisations do within modern society however, I have confidence that they will build on the foundations put in place and for Harpenden Town to continue to grow.
